Caregivers—What We Look For
We're looking for the best of the best. You need to have experience and be recognized as someone who can handle difficult situations. You have uncommon patience and good reason to be proud of your caregiving skills.
Keep in mind that this job isn't for everybody. Tender Rose specializes in assisted living at home for Alzheimer's and dementia patients, so you will have your challenging days. As you know, the best way to manage difficult behaviors is to prevent them from happening in the first place. In this area, your patience and ability truly make a difference. We build on your existing skills and experience by providing you with the best dementia care training you've ever had.
Here are 6 characteristics we look for in a caregiver:
- Positive Attitude—You are nurturing and compassionate. You love helping others and enjoy spending time with seniors.
- Dementia Care Experience—You have direct, hands-on experience taking care of dementia patients. You know they can be challenging, but these are the patients that let you shine as a caregiver.
- Incredible Patience—People with dementia sometimes say and do things that are not nice. You remind yourself that the behavior comes from the disease, not the person.
- Reliable—You know that your patients and their families depend on you and that consistency is important for dementia care. You have a history of being on time and covering your shifts. When unexpected things happen, like getting sick or having a sick child, you notify your supervisor right away so a coworker can fill in.
- Enjoys Teaching—Every dementia patient is different. You will be expected to become an expert in what works for your patients and to teach what you know to your coworkers and family caregivers of your patients.
- Smiles Easily—One thing that makes you so effective is that you frequently smile. Even when your patients have trouble understanding language, your smile puts them at ease and lets them know that they are in good hands.
If this sounds like a good fit, please apply today. We're looking forward to meeting you.
